I don’t care if he’s pale, Johnny Depp is still hot in Dark Shadows.

It’s officially cool to be a vampire again. Forget team Edward or Jacob or whoever the Twilight vampire is. Johnny totally rocked his gothic vampire role in Dark Shadows.
The movie is set in the 70’s and had some pretty cool period clothing. The basic premise is that Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) is cursed way back in the olden times, imprisoned in a coffin, then awakened in the present (in this case, the 70’s). He sets out to find his remaining ancestors and restore the family name.
Of course, since he’s a vampire, there are a few bloody scenes, so I wasn’t surprised this was rated PG13. The scenes aren’t really scary so much as campy horror with a bit of gore, but I wouldn’t take any younger kids to see it.
Michelle Pfeiffer was stunning as the head of the present-day Collins family. She really stole the show in a few scenes, with just the right amount of dry humor and wit.

While I was buying my tickets online, I noticed that Fandango has a really cool promotion that I plan to use for my next date night with Jason: 2-for-1 movie tickets on Friday nights!
I don’t use my Visa very often anymore, but I’m totally willing to do it to save some cash on a date night with my hubby. Fandango also runs promotions regularly, so be sure to follow them via Twitter and Facebook.
If you’re a Johnny Depp fan, Dark Shadows is definitely a must-see. On a Couch Critics scale of 1-5 (5 is the best), I give Dark Shadows 4.5 couches. Johnny Depp as a vampire that doesn’t sparkle is definitely worth the price of popcorn.
