‘Tis The Season For Target Stalking…fa la la la la

I’m obsessed with Target right now. Summer sales are my stalking season. Big time.

First, let me start by saying that this is not a sponsored post. I’m fairly certain Target has absolutely no idea who I am. Well, maybe some of the local employees do since I’ve been spending so much time there lately.

This past Sunday I spent the afternoon shopping at no less than 4 different Target stores. Why so many? Because it’s their summer baby and toy clearance.

If you’re a regular here, you probably know my addiction to deals. Heck, I took my breast pump with me out shopping on Black Friday since I wasn’t willing to miss out on any doorbusters.

Here’s the deal – every June/July, Target starts clearancing out their kids toys and baby gear. I almost can’t stand the bargain hunting excitement.

What kind of deals can you get?

Take this Sit & Stand double stroller. It was marked down 30%.

Marked down from $170.99 to $119.68

I’m not in the market for a stroller right now, but I do have my eye on one big item for Levi – a new carseat. In particular, I’d like to get a Britax carseat. I just don’t love the price tag. I spotted this one marked down 30% too.

Marked down from $155.99 to $109.18

So why did I go to 4 different stores?

Not all Target stores follow the same markdown schedule. The same Britax Roundabout 50 carseat was priced differently at each of the stores. 2 had it at the $109 price shown above, 1 had it for $135, and the other still had it on the shelf at full price.

Why am I still waiting to buy the carseat?

In my obsessive Target stalking, I’ve learned a thing or two over the years. I know that if they don’t sell what’s on the shelf, they will typically mark the item down further the following week to move it out of their inventory. Two of the stores I went to had 3 of the Britax seats in stock. It’s a gamble, but I’m waiting until next week to see if they mark them down further. If they do, I’ll snatch one up. I just hope they don’t sell out before I get one.

  1. Oh, and don’t you know it, sister.

    I LOVE ME MY Target.

If it werent’ for the dent in the credit card, I’d be there everyday, and still not get everything I want.

  2. You go girl!

  3. I had no idea that different stores could have different prices! Verrrrry interesting!

  4. Holy crap I had no idea!! I love Target clearances!!!

  5. Even though I used to work there I still love Target! We have one very close to our house. I obviously need to head on over!

  6. I love Target for a lot of things, but honestly I find Amazon has better deals. Especially if you join Amazon Mom, then you get free two-day shipping.

  7. Oooo, I love Target too, but I had no idea that started to clearance out kid/baby items in the summer! I better go!

Yup. One store employee told me to check back at the very end of the month. He said that's when his store REALLY starts marking things down.

  8. I LOVE Tagrget! Thanks for the reminder – I need to go this weekend.

  9. I totally do that! I was stalking some sandals and when they finally were on clearance, i didn’t like how they fit anymore 🙁 oh well, I always check out the clearance section, I love Target so much! Today I got these very nice eco friendly blank note cards, very cute and on clearance 🙂

I didn't realize they carried eco-friendly stationary. I'll have to check out that section on my next trip.

  10. Target is my FLAVORITE! I love it there SO So SO much. I go to Starbucks, get a latte and walk around with my sunglasses on my head and my huge purse on my arm, pushing my stroller with my stomach. No joke. Their deals are absolutely the best. we only have 2 Targets here which is intensely disappointing to me. OMG I know what I’m going to do tomorrow. YIPPIE!

It never occurred to me to get in a little me time. I'm totally grabbing a latte on my next trip!

  11. I saw all the markdowns when I was there last week! I was wishing I had more money with me so I could have bought some Christmas/birthday presents for the baby!

    • lifewithlevi says:

Check back – I always cruise the aisles for those little orange tags. I've seen things that go down to 90% off before.

  12. Oh how I wish I had some money to shop sales! I LOVED shopping sales!

  13. Wow. Four Targets in one day makes me tired just thinking about it. Our Targets are always super busy and filled with rude customers and employees. But, I would probably do the same thing to save me the extra money.

Thankfully, most of the Targets around here have really nice staff. I did see a shoplifting bust once. It was crazy.

  14. Tip: try the downtown Minneapolis store on the weekend. It’s quiet, and I think they have a better selection of larger things on clearance because their normal customers are office workers on their lunch breaks who don’t want to lug larger stuff back to the office. I got a fire pit thingie for $14 there once. Plus they give you a voucher for 2 hours of free parking in their ramp when you check out.

  15. Just wanted to let you know that I went to both targets here in Savannah today and scored Styles’ birthday (next month) AND Christmas presents, as well as Madilyn’s birthday presents (Sept) for under $100. Toys were 75% off today and it was phenomenal. LOVE TARJAY

Wow Summer, that's awesome! Jason stopped by one this week and all of the Britax car seats I was stalking were gone, but we're headed back this weekend to see if any other toys are marked down further.
