The Affordable Care Act Has You Covered for Breastfeeding Supplies

When I got pregnant with my daughter, I had been at my job for about 6 months.  I was immediately shocked that I was pregnant with her, but one of my very next thoughts was, “What will I do about feeding her?”  You see, I had an 8 year old son at the time and I had breastfed him until I went back to work when he was 9 months old.  He decided after that point in time, he was {Read More}

I Am A Crappy Mom

A heated debate on my Facebook page led to a snarky (funny) discussion with Trisha from MomDot on what bad parents we are. I still think she wins, but I had to try to top her. I’m a crappy mom. Here are all the things I do to screw up my kid: I hug him every day. I kiss his boo-boos. I use cloth diapers. I breastfed him for a year. I supplemented with formula. I use disposables at night {Read More}

How Should I Breastfeed? (Guest Post)

Since I finished exclusively pumping for Levi almost a year ago, I haven’t talked about breastfeeding nearly as much on here as I used to. After having 3 breastfeeding mamas over yesterday and seeing them nurse their little ones like rockstars, I thought it would be fun to feature a couple guest posts about breastfeeding here on the ol’ blog. How Should I Breastfeed? Written by Carly Morson Although breastfeeding fell out of fashion over the last few decades, mostly {Read More}

Military Moms Should Not Breastfeed In Public While In Uniform

Surprised to hear that coming from the gal that hosted the Breastfeeding Blog Hop for a year and opening supports nursing in public? You shouldn’t be. Photo Credit: Brynja Sigurdardottir You may have already seen the articles online about the military moms who are “proud” to breastfeed in uniform. Here’s the deal, folks. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public. Just don’t do it in uniform. One commenter said it best: The military is not a civilian job. We {Read More}

Celebrating One Year Of The Breastfeeding Blog Hop

We did it folks! Today marks the 52nd week of the Breastfeeding Blog Hop. One full year. Wow. This past year has marked some amazing milestones. Levi and I celebrated one year of exclusively pumping. I figured out that it’s difficult to pump while rolling around on Heelys, but not too difficult to do it while mowing the lawn. My eyes have been opened on the whole nursing in public front. I admit, I used to be pro-cover. Now I’m {Read More}

Passing The Breastfeeding Blog Hop Torch

It’s hard to believe that the Breastfeeding Blog Hop has been going strong for nearly a full year. In fact, next week is our 52nd week. How cool is that? Levi is now 16 months old. It’s been about 4 months since I stopped pumping for him. He was ready, I wasn’t, but it happened anyway and even though I’m not happy about it, I’m used to it now. I will ALWAYS be here to support other breastfeeding moms, but {Read More}

I Admire You

Over the past year and a half, I’ve written a lot about breastfeeding. I’ve shared my exclusive pumping journey, my bitterness about finally weaning, lots of crazy pumping videos, and, of course, hosted the weekly Breastfeeding Blog Hop.  I recorded this message to share how I feel for this week’s “Words Of Encouragement” topic, and I mean every word.

Pumping At Target: That’s How I “Roll” (Video)

Black Friday is next week and I feel like I’ve come full circle with the whole pumping thing. You might remember my post about pumping while shopping for Black Friday last year. After several “Pumping While” videos and countless hours logged behind my breast pump, of course I had to up the ante a little bit. Pumping While Shopping At Target – That’s How I “Roll” Please click here if you are unable to view the video above. Turns out {Read More}

Stupid Frozen Donut

That’s what I call this thing. A stupid frozen donut. It’s one of those hot/cool packs you can buy for breastfeeding pain relief. It’s not all bad, but it’s not the greatest, either. After spending a year exclusively pumping, I know a thing or two about breast soreness. Mostly because of mastitis and breast abscess infections, but also from general day to day stuff. I mean, you don’t pump while working out without straining a boob or two. So back {Read More}

The End

I’ve been avoiding this post for a while. The end has come and gone, and I am still torn up about it. If you’ve seen some of my recent comments, here or on other sites, you might have noticed I’ve talked about breastfeeding and pumping in the past tense. Sigh. I’m still upset and angry about the whole thing. I’m mad that we didn’t get to do the traditional nursing thing. Maybe if we had, we’d still be going strong. {Read More}
