I can’t believe how expensive Nutrisystem is getting.
Oh, I’m not talking about the program itself. I’m talking about all the extra stuff.
- Like the gym membership I just signed up for.
- The new workout clothes I just bought because my old ones don’t fit me anymore.
- The new Kindle Fire I’m going to buy myself as a reward tomorrow for sticking to the program.
Yep, it’s all adding up.
And it’s totally worth it.
See, for me, when I start struggling with something, I have to find a new way to motivate myself. In this case, somehow, and I don’t know how, I’ve managed to gain two pounds in the last two weeks. I’m up to 143.2, and I don’t know if it’s water weight or if my body is processing things differently now that I’ve started working out after being a couch potato for nearly two years or what. Whatever it is, it’s totally disheartening because I’ve been doing the right things – eating well and working out.
The last time I had a big setback was when I was told I had to give up breastfeeding due to the surgeries I had to have shortly after Levi was born. Instead of throwing in the towel, I bought I few things to motivate me in my exclusive pumping – extra pump parts (not terribly exciting) and my very first PumpEase.
If you read my blog at all, you probably know what a turning point that was for me. I went on to exclusively pump for Levi for a full year, meeting our breastfeeding goal, and even got creative and had fun with what could have been a boring daily chore by pumping while mowing the lawn and or while racing around Target on my Heelys.
So I had a minor set back in my weight loss journey. I can’t really explain it, but I can keep a positive attitude and give myself an incentive to keep going instead of crawling into a candy bar. Yesterday I traded in my guest pass to become a full-fledged member of my local gym. Tomorrow, I’m going to buy myself a Kindle to read while I’m doing my cardio workouts.
I made a deal with myself for all of this. In order to keep the Kindle, I have to go to the gym at least 3 times a week for the next 30 days AND stick to my Nutrisystem program. Working out won’t do me any good if I’m eating junk food, and likewise, eating well can only take me so far if I really want to lose the weight. Swimsuit season is looming around the corner, and I want to feel comfortable and confident when I’m out with Levi splashing around.
What keeps you motivated to work out and get healthy?
