World Market is back in Minnesota, and I couldn’t be happier.
Just for the record, World Market is way more than a liquor store. I have another post coming about that. As soon as I figure out what a wok is used for. Because I bought one while I was there and I feel a little silly that I still don’t know what you use them for other than stir fry yet. But it was an awesome deal and everyone told me it was a great wok (by everyone, I mean Mimi from Woven By Words. I trust her judgment.)
Anyway, back to the liquor store. LOVED IT. A lot.
For starters, they carry a nice variety of beer, wine, and liquor. They even had a decent sake selection.
They carry some local craft beers, and have a “build your own six pack” section where you can mix and match single bottles of beer – great if you’re interested in trying a few different kinds to see what you like.
Oh, and they had all THREE colors of the hand-painted Day Of The Dead tequila skulls in stock. Last year I looked all over for the yellow bottle so I could add it to my collection. Here, they’re all in one spot. Easy peasy.
It’s a toss up on what my two favorite things are about the World Market liquor store. There’s the value, which is fantastic, especially if you’re a World Market Explorer member. I like that there’s instant satisfaction with the program. They had a kiosk to sign up right there in the store (it’s free, you just enter your name, address, and email) and then you get to save extra on stuff like this awesome Zinfandel I tasted while I was there.
Saving an extra $2 a bottle was well worth taking 30 seconds to sign up for the program, plus now I’ll get extra coupons throughout the year and invited to other special events and all kinds of other cool stuff. Mostly I’m excited that now I have an excuse to buy more wine 🙂
My other favorite thing I kind of just mentioned – the in-store tastings. They had an awesome selection of reds and whites out for sampling while we shopped. Amy from Grinning Cheek to Cheek was also there, and I caught her doing this.
Yup, that’s right – she’s got a white wine in one hand and a red in the other. I bought the red she was drinking (the OZV Zinfandel I saved $2 a bottle on) and she wound up buying champagne. We have very different tastes in wine, so it was cool that we were able to sample so many different kinds to find ones we liked.
As soon as I figure out what the heck I’m doing with my wok, I’ll share some photos of the rest of my shopping trip. World Market is definitely a store you can get lost in checking out all the cool stuff, and I’m excited they’re back in Minnesota!!
Do you have a World Market near you?
