Meet The Roommate: Mike

As many of you know from my posts on Facebook, Levi and I have a new roommate.

Poor Mike got subjected to some of the questions you guys suggested I ask him for this little impromptu interview. My side of the conversation is in bold.

Skippy is the best peanut butter, right?

(laughter) I actually like Jif. That’s the kind my parents bought when we were little.

You know you have to move out now, right?

(more laughter)

Have you been vaccinated against Anthrax?

Anthrax is a pretty good band, so no. Vaccinated against anthrax, is that even a real thing? (no, I have not told him the story yet.)

What’s your all time favorite meal?

Uhhh…my grandma’s lasagna. And everything that’s homemade. Her lasagna, her homemade garlic bread, and her homemade penne. She makes everything from scratch and it’s amazing.

Do you cook?

(makes face) sometimes. I know how to, but I choose not to a lot of times.

Do you homebrew?

Any crappy roommate confessions?

I’ve actually been lucky with roommates. Except when I lived with two girls from Duluth when I lived in Brooklyn Park. One girl was crazy. (Proceeds to tell me the story. Apparently she was cool before they lived together, then turned crazy when she moved in. And she wasn’t clean and had a messy room and caused drama and wore Ugg boots to work all the time with no socks. I don’t think he understood the question was supposed to be about him.)

A team of super heroes posts an ad on Craigslist looking for a 5th man to join their alliance. You respond to the ad because you’re new in town and were genetically modified by mad scientists as a toddler. What is your super power?

That’s pretty creative. (Laughs) That’s the most random question, that’s awesome. And I don’t have a witty answer for it.

My super power is that I’m made out of steel like Juggernaut so I can break through things.

Dude, that’s totally a sidekick superpower.

Totally is, but he’s a badass.

Would you rather have a light saber or a magic wand.

If I had to choose between the two, I would say a light saber. A magic wand is kind of a girl thing.

Harry Potter had a magic wand.

I’ve never seen Harry Potter.

You have to move out.

Supergirl or Wonder Woman?

Wonder Woman because Linda Carter is awesome. Not the new Wonder Woman either. There’s a new one that’s stupid. The original is where it’s at.

  1. oh what fun!!! 🙂 he sounds like a reasonable guy……well except for the peanut butter and harry potter thing 🙂

  2. Annonymous says:

New roommate is pretty cute! And I think you may need to fix the fact that he hasn’t seen Harry Potter. Not like it’s any of my business, but I’m curious, so is new roommate Mike a boyfriend or just a friend?

  3. He is very nice looking!

  4. Ok.. follow up to the cooking question. Assuming you’re being modest about your cooking abilities, if you could trade one or two household chores in exchange for your cooking services (according to grandma’s standards for being edible) what would they be and how often would you be willing to do this?

    • Mike says: I kinda like doing chores. I don’t know – doing laundry and cleaning the bathroom I guess?

I wish I could cook like my Grandma, that would be awesome. Someday.

      • Jen Says: FYI – Mike is sitting in the giant FomBag and I’m just typing all his responses as he says them. I don’t think he even knows the url to my site, though he does know I have a blog (obviously).

  5. (I must preface this by saying i am only kidding but)

To finish your sentence.. “New roommate Mike is just a roomate 🙂 ….for now”

  6. Mike is hot, how is he just a roommate. 😉

  7. I must agree that yes, new roommate Mike is cute. And that was awesome! He’s a good sport!

  8. what? Likes chores? How is it that he’s still single? Ok- deep well, but wow!

  9. Yea that’s the only question I have….. for roommate Mike……….. Is he single? And why? LMAO What’s wrong with him?!?!?! IJS

  10. This post was fun to read!! haven’t had a good giggle in a while…Thanks!! And oh my is he cute!!!!!!

  11. courtney hennagir says:

i laughed entirely too hard about the chick in the uggs with no socks. i wish i knew if my mental image of her matches her in real life. and totally agree,he is a cutie!

  12. Amber Nara says:

Right on!!! You are to funny!! I love all the Q’s! He is a Hottir McNaughty…Great for the eyes! So you go girl with all your super powers!!! Have fun with your new roomie!

  13. It can be so hard to find a good roommate. This interview made me laugh! 🙂

  14. Lol seems pretty funny and cute! But I dunno he likes Jif and never seen Harry Potter, guess you will have to show his all the good things in life 😀

  15. Roommates of the opposite sex are always the best. At least that what I’ve found.

  16. It’s official, he picked a sidekick power so now he will be referred to as “Jen’s sidekick” 😀

  17. MrsTashaG says:

He is quite attractive. Perhaps this is a nosey question……. but how does your Ex feel about him moving in?

  18. But has he read Harry Potter? If so he can skip the marathon, if not tell him to lock and load

  19. Morgen Teal says:

I having lived in Superior WI (across the bridge from Duluth)—I know WAY too many girls like that!

  20. I have seen much worse looking roommates! Hope it works out for all of you! Be sure he gets that anthrax shot!

  21. I mean, if you have to have a roommate he might as well be a hot roommate, right? He sounds like a fun guy….you’ll have to make him watch Harry Potter though. Tha

  22. If I wasn’t married already he would be perfect. Wonder Woman and Lasagna!!! And he’s cute in a scruffy sort of way!!

  23. Way too sexy, good luck keeping your hands off that!

  24. Too funny! He sounds like a fun guy

  25. He is very cute. I can’t wait until you do another interview. Please ask him what celebrity he would date. Also, if he were a dinosaur what kind of dinosaur would he be.

  26. Carole Ingram says:

Holy Eye Candy!!! 🙂 and he’s got a sense of humor too! LOL

  27. Just came across this and have to say, male roommates are always much easier to live with in my experience. But then I’m not one to get along with women much, always have more male friends. As someone who’s had roommates for seven years, if I had to pick one again, it’d be male. (Just in my own place for the first time in seven years, so hopefully don’t have to do that anytime soon.) Sounds like an easy going guy. Have fun!
