Levi and I decided to head out on the boat last weekend.
As you can see from my house in the background, we didn’t get very far. Even though Minnesota is the land of 10,000+ lakes, it’s not always easy to figure out which ones allow motorized boats (like our pontoon) or have public access (since we don’t have a slip).
Luckily, I recently found an awesome website to help me plan our family boating outings: DiscoverBoating.com. It has everything – general boating info, how to buy a boat, operating/owner’s info, and (my favorite) locations to get your boat out on the water!
See, here’s the deal – I don’t really know much about owning a boat. When we bought the pontoon last year with Kristen from Thrifty And Fit and her husband, I didn’t even know pontoons came so small. I had to Google information about infant boating requirements so I could make sure Levi was safe when we brought him out, and to this day, I still haven’t learned how to drive it.
Part of that is because we’ve only taken it out on the water twice. We just haven’t had time yet this year, but Levi and I are ready to go! I used DiscoverBoating.com to find a few lakes near us to take the pontoon out. I love how easy it was using the zip code search, and you can also narrow your results by different criteria like whether or not there’s a public dock, if there’s food/beverages available at the site, and more.
I can’t wait to keep browsing the site and learn more about things we can do to take care of our boat and new places we can go. I’m excited to unplug and enjoy some quality family time out on the lakes. Maybe I can even convince Jason to do some fishing
Have You Been Boating This Summer?
I wrote this post while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Discover Boating and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
