I Took The #BlueBloggers Pledge To Dye My Hair Blue. ALL Blue.

That’s right. I’ve pledged to dye my hair all blue in support of suicide prevention education and awareness.

#BlueBloggers Raising the Stakes for Suicide Prevention

Last week during National Suicide Prevention Week, fellow blogger Cristi of Motherhood Unadorned dyed her hair blue after raising over $1,600 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Cristi is a survivor of suicide and is very passionate about the cause. She’s inspired others to join her effort and get blue streaks when she reached her original goal. (You can check out photos of the original #bluebloggers here.)

I decided I needed to help her take her team’s fundraising to the next level.

And I decided I needed to do it in a big way.

As of today, Team Purposeful Practices/Motherhood Unadorned has raised over $2,100.

If they reach $5,000 by their Out of the Darkness Walk in Seattle on October 1st…

…Myself and more than TEN other bloggers have pledged to also DYE OUR HAIR BLUE.

If you’d like to see what I look like with blue hair, donate HERE to Cristi or any member of her team. (Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on any of the team members names to go to the donation page)

Over 35,000 people in the U.S. alone die each year by suicide, and worldwide, it’s estimated at one million lives lost. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide.

Your donation is 100% tax deductible and you’ll get me closer to blue! I KNOW you want to see that.

I told my boss this morning about my pledge. In case you don’t know, I work in a big corporate office. Blue hair is definitely frowned on. But it’s for a good cause, so not only will I be dyeing my hair blue, I’ll be leaving it blue for an entire work week.

Don’t worry, there will be lots of photos.

These fabulous other bloggers have agreed to take the #BlueBloggers pledge with me and go either full blue or blue streaks if Cristi’s team makes it to their goal of $5,000:

Amanda of Midwestern Moms (full blue)
Darcy of Tales From The Nursery (full blue)
