I Need To Invest $20 In My Health

I want this.

treadmill laptop

It’s one of those treadmill desk things that you can set your laptop on so you can work out (or at least walk) while working.

Know where I do most of my blogging? Sitting on my butt in bed. Not exactly a workout. Unless you count lifting a wine glass as weightlifting.

Anyway, these things cost over $1000. I don’t have that kind of cash laying around.

So like any savvy internet user, I asked The Google if there was a way to build one myself.

LifeHacker says yes, there is. For about $20.

That’s totally more my kind of budget.

They even had a video to show me how to do it.

I’m going to try to build this over the Fourth Of July holiday, so I figured I’d share the video here so you can see what it’s supposed to look like, then I’ll also share photos of how it turns out when I’m done!

  1. I want this!!!

  2. I wish there were something like this for my eliptical. As far as I know, there isn’t. This is a great idea… although the photo of the man in dress pants is a little weird! lol Maybe the idea is that he’s at the office, but it still looks odd!

  3. That would be multi-tasking at its best, working out while surfing!

  4. Marthalynn says:

Ha! This is brilliant! It’s one of those things you didn’t know you needed until you saw it. Now I have to have this.

  5. What a great idea! I’m excited to see your finished project!

  6. Meg T ucker says:

Are you kidding me??????????? This is amazing!! Rock on with your bad self! 🙂

  7. jenny w says:

that’s awesome. Looking forward to seeing your finished product!

  8. Jo-Ann Brightman says:

I think that this is great. Unfortunately I have an old desktop so I can’t use this for my treadmill.

  9. I think this is a great idea.

  10. When I get a treadmill I’m definitely going to have to do this! I spend soooo much time on the computer and it would be great to get a workout in while I was doing it. It would probably take some practice to get used to walking and working, but totally worth it!

  11. Well now that would be perfect! Just what I need.

  12. That’s a really good idea.

  13. Suzy Allen says:

This is SUCH a great idea. If I were walking the entire time I was on the computer each day I would probably walk like 10 miles or more! I don’t know if I would ba able to manage building one though, I am interested to see you it turns out for you.

  14. Some moving is better than no moving!! 🙂

  15. That is really awesome! Even just walking slowly for 2 hours would probably burn a good amount of calories and tone you up, right? Especially at an incline. Genius! Can’t wait to see your version.

  16. Awesome. Can’t wait to see yours.

  17. i am a huge multi tasker but i would surly fall on my face trying to use this thing!

  18. Stacey T says:

I wish I had room in my house to do this, though to be honest I don’t know if I would always turn the treadmill on (standing has got to be better than lounging around though)

  19. This would be so useful! Did you end up making it?
