How To Play A Virtual Scavenger Hunt With The HP Deskjet 3052A #HPFallFun

Scavenger hunts are awesome. I love setting them up and playing with friends.

The only bummer is that lots of my friends live far away. Not just far like Jo from Minnesota Joy who’s down near Rochester, I mean really far like Lynsey from Moscato Mom and Trisha, my favorite community blogger all the way down in FL.  Nicole from Nicole Notated, Tara from A Spectacled Owl, and Desiree from The Miracle Momma are also from all over the country.

Thanks to the miracle of Facebook chat and my fancy new HP Deskjet 3052A wireless printer, I was able to invite them ALL to an awesome virtual scavenger hunt.

Wireless Printer

This printer is seriously cool. It only took me about 15 minutes to set up (which included running all the software while taking breaks to chase Levi down to change his diaper). The ink cartridges are super quick and easy to pop into place, the test sheet prints right away, and once you connect to your wireless network, you’re ready to go. Oh yeah, they even dummy-proof the ink cartridges by color coding them and labeling where they go so you don’t mess it up.

The HP Deskjet 3052A can be set up anywhere in your house where you have access to a power outlet. I set mine up in my living room for tonight, because I like to sprawl out on my floor while I chat.

Printer on carpet

Once I had my printer all set up, I was ready for the fun part. My printer has a unique email address, and I have it set up so as long as you have the email address, you can send stuff directly to the printer and it will print out. (There are plenty of other privacy settings, too, but I wanted the “public” setting for this scavenger hunt to work.)

I set up a private FB chat with the gals and shared the printer’s unique email. Once the clues were given, it was a race for them to email me a photo from their phone OR a screenshot from their computer. The first person who’s photo printed out was the winner.

Here was the winning question of the day:

Some take me in the morning,
others take me in the evening.
But one thing you should know,
that when I am taken, I do not go.

And this was the answer:

Shower Head

Desiree didn’t mention if this is her actual shower head or one she found online, but she was the first person to send her photo to my HP Deskjet printer.

It was super fun to connect with my fav blogging gals for the virtual scavenger hunt, and even more fun to have an excuse to play with my new printer.

I can’t wait to pick one of these up as a Christmas present for my mom so I can randomly surprise her with photos of Levi. She lives in FL, so she misses out on a lot of the day-to-day stuff. Skype is great, but I know she also likes to have photos to show off to her friends, and this is the perfect solution. Plus, it’s totally within my budget at less than $70 at Walmart. The ink is really reasonably priced, too, so I know my mom will be able to keep it stocked so I can send her lots of pictures.

My next “printing party” will be for my local friends. I think we’re going to have a printables swap and make coloring sheets for the kids for the holidays. It’ll be great to be able to grab our laptops and sip wine while coming up with fun indoor activities for keeping our kids busy this winter. I can’t wait!

I received the HP printer shown above for the purpose of this review. All opinions and virtual scavenger hunt ideas are 100% my own.

  1. I think this is so cool! My husband is in the Air Force and we’re always apart. It would be so cool to just be able to send him little love notes when ever the whim hit!

  2. This printer looks awesome, and very easy to work/setup. I had fun “playing” the scavenger hunt game even though I was late getting into it. The price sounds very reasonable.. I may have to look into one for myself. I could use a new printer!

  3. I sure did have fun doing the scavenger hunt Jen. Thanks for including me! The printer looks awesome. I’m almost sad that I bought another brand recently.

Also, I miss your face. Hope we can visit soon!

    Love ya,

  4. My bathroom’s shower head in all it’s glory. I’ve always liked HP Printers, but this printer has made me fall in love with HP. For the technology it possesses I’m impressed with how inexpensive it is. I had loads of fun in the virtual scavenger hunt. I hope you do more in the future. 🙂

  5. This is VERY cool. I think my Grandma needs one of these. What a cool surprise to come home to a new picture of her great-grand babies!

  6. Reminds me of our HPInkjet printer. Even though we don’t play scavenger hunt this is something unique.
