To make sure I’m compliant with all the FTC guidelines and such, and so my readers can understand what goes on here at Life With Levi, here are my disclosures:
All opinions are my own. Unless I publish a guest post, and then those opinions are that person’s. In general, if it’s on my site, it’s my original content. Please don’t steal it, please don’t take it as legal advice, and please don’t quote it as fact. If I put it out here, it’s my honest opinion. Even when I’m paid to review an item, I’m still going to give my honest feedback about the item. I do, however, offer sponsors the opportunity to decline my review if they feel it will be negative. That’s their choice. Odds are, if I really dislike a product, those feelings will come out later in a non-sponsored post anyway, so I’m not sure what good that option does, but it’s there. Now you know about it.
Sometimes I post ads on my sidebar. They’re usually labeled “Sponsors” or “Ads” or something equally obvious. More often than not, I receive compensation for posting these ads. I do not use an ad network, though that could be an option for this site in the future. We’ll see.
Sometimes I use them. I try to label them where they are, but let’s face it, I’m human, and sometimes I forget. When I say sometimes I forget, I mean that sometimes I might forget I have a Swagbucks widget in my footer or that a link in a past post contains an affiliate link. To be safe, just assume any link could be an affiliate link and then we’re both covered, ok?
Sometimes companies or individuals provide me with products to review and/or giveaway to my readers. I do not accept bribes for good reviews. Even if you offer me a martini, I won’t change my opinion about your product. I do accept payment for some reviews and giveaways. Why? Because this blog is my personal internet soapbox. I get to talk about whatever I want, whenever I want. There are millions of products out there. I don’t have the time or the inclination to try them all. But if you want to pay to get my attention, well, let’s talk. I’m still going to give an honest review – you can’t pay to influence my opinion, but you can pay for my time. Does that make sense to everyone?
I also accept compensation for special events and/or sponsorship opportunities. I try to be clear about who is sponsoring what. If you, my readers, have any questions about whether or not something is sponsored or if I received compensation, go ahead and ask. I’m not shy about it.
If you prefer the fancy langauge version of my disclosure policy:
