We’re definitely a last-minute family. Christmas rush? Yup, that’s us. Last week we didn’t even have our Christmas tree up.
As luck would have it, Jason has Tuesday off work so he hauled out the fake tree from the basement and started setting it up.
Thankfully, it’s a pre-lit tree, so we didn’t need to worry about untangling lights. After fluffing a few branches and plugging it in, we were ready to go.
Levi made his first homemade ornament this year. We let him put it on the tree himself.
Part of our tree decorating tradition is baking Christmas cookies. Of course, since this was all last-minute, I didn’t have any cookie dough in the house. Off to Walmart we went to pick up some cookie dough and something quick to make for dinner. You can check out all the photos from our shopping trip on Google+.
Levi helped us shop for cookie dough, some extra stocking stuffers, and Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches for dinner. We picked up two boxes, because while supplies last, you can buy 2 boxes of Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches at a participating Walmart and receive a $5 Walmart Gift Card. (Get all the details at Tysongoodness.com.) I’m all about saving money and saving time, so it worked out great for me.
Just a head’s up, the Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches are only available at select Walmart stores so check before you go.
Once we got home, Jason got started baking the cookies and I got started on dinner.
I was pretty impressed how quick and easy it is to make the Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches. I was done cooking before Jason even got the oven pre-heated for the cookies!
All it took were 3 simple steps to have dinner ready:
1) Place the package of two sandwiches on the plate upside down and cook on high for 45 seconds.
2) Flip the package and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
3) Carefully open the package (it’s hot!), serve and enjoy!
I was worried after seeing a bit of steam inside the bag while cooking that the buns would be chewy or wet, but they were light and fluffy and delicious. I made two of the plain ones for myself and four of the cheese ones for Jason.
Jason thought the cheese ones were better than the plain, but that guy will put cheese on anything
I have no idea why he eats with his pinky up, lol. Levi looked puzzled by it, too. Jason had to share, though – someone decided he didn’t want to be left out.
Both my boys gave the Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches two thumbs up. We normally sit down at the table to eat as a family, but it was nice to have a quick meal together in the kitchen while baking Christmas cookies. The sandwiches were filling enough that I didn’t serve them with anything else, but next time I’ll probably do a side dish of mac n cheese or veggies.
If you’re like me and do lots of things last-minute and need quick meal ideas, be sure to check out the handy store locator to see where you can pick up Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches in your area.
