Celebrating World Pasta Day With Barilla #BarillaWPD

Today is World Pasta Day! Being Italian, pasta is a staple of my household. Plus, it’s really easy to throw together a yummy meal without a ton of effort or planning.

Barilla Dinner Plate

Take this Barilla Campanelle With Three Cheese Sauce, Roasted Peppers, Olives, and Oregano. It only took about 10 minutes to prep and 10 minutes to cook – that’s a filling meal in 20 minutes. You just can’t beat that.

After a long (boring) day at the office, I usually struggle with dinnertime. I work til 5pm, usually grab Levi from the babysitter at 5:30pm, and then he’s hungry pretty quick. I hate to give him a snack, because then he doesn’t want dinner. So then I’m scrambling to come up with something quick and healthy and let’s just say frozen pizza is not out of the question when I’m up against a hungry toddler. I know I’m not alone, either. While families these days are making more time for dinner, 2-in-5 meal-preparers agree it is difficult to find time to prepare dinner in their household.

Luckily, cooking pasta is not much harder than boiling water. As long as I remember to set the timer and don’t get distracted by Levi exploding lotion all over the place, I’m good to go.

Barilla Cooking

Pasta is versatile and allows for multi-tasking while cooking. I was pretty bad with the Barilla Campanelle when I made it – normally I duck into the kitchen at least once or twice to stir the pasta to make sure it doesn’t clump up, but Levi wanted to read the Lorax and I forgot I was cooking until the timer went off.

Luckily, this pasta pretty much cooks itself and it was totally fine. I had to hide the peppers and olives under the sauce instead of mixing them in because Levi’s a little picky about new vegetables, but he still totally enjoyed it.

Barilla Dinner

Barilla has this cool Modern Family Pasta Cookbook that features easy ways to mix up your pasta routine. In honor of World Pasta Day, if you stop by their Facebook page, you can not only help Barilla donate to Feeding America, you can ALSO download the cookbook for free and receive a $1 off coupon for their pasta and/or sauces. They have a ton of different varieties to choose from!

  5. Never even knew World Pasta Day existed. I’ve never tried the Campanelle. It’s usually the same old spaghetti or shells. I want to try this now. 🙂

  6. Carole Ingram says:

Our favorite pasta dish is “Chicken Carbonara”, which I don’t make very often because of the amount of fat it contains. I occasionally do Lasagna (which I don’t precook the noodles and it makes the job so much easier!). 🙂

  7. Tanya park says:

I love Braille pasta plus! We are vegetarians and this way I know my kids are getting extra protein etc and they don’t even know it 🙂 we probably have some type of pasta 3-4 days a week yum so versatile 🙂

  8. I love Barilla Pasta. I make a ziti dish in the crockpot, well the sauce cooks all day in the crockpot. Barilla makes the perfect shape and size noodle, the Mezze Penne. I know I call this a ziti dish, but I don’t have an Italian bone in me so you will have to forgive my ignorance. LOL <3
