House of Cash Book Review

Any Johnny Cash fans in the house? Johnny Cash’s son, John Carter Cash, has just written a book called House of Cash: The Legacies of My Father, Johnny Cash – and I do believe this is a book Cash fans are going to want to get their hands on!   More than a typical “tell all” style biography, House of Cash tells the story of Johnny Cash through the eyes of his son, John.  The book paints a softer picture of {Read More}

Baby-Mantra Baby Shampoo

In a perfect world, I would only buy and use organic food and products. Unfortunately, that isn’t realistic, and so I pick and choose which products I buy organic.  Lately, I’ve been learning more and more about the gunk we put on our bodies while “washing” with our standard soaps, body washes, and shampoos. And you know what?  Some of the ingredients in your typical shampoo are downright scary. That’s why I am always happy to try natural and organic {Read More}

Voots Veggie-Fruit Tarts

Raise your hand if your kid isn’t eating all the fruits and vegetables they should be (raising hand really, really high over here!). When both of my kids were babies and just starting to eat solid foods, they’d eat everything.  I thought I was seriously the greatest parent ever because they would devour every fruit and vegetable I put in front of them. And then, somewhere along the line, they merged into toddlerhood and turned all picky on me.  And {Read More}

Boo Boo Bag Review

If you have small children, you know that “owies” are a fact of life.  In fact, for a long time I had a makeshift first-aid kit packed in our diaper bag.  Mostly, it consisted of a few band-aids…to say it was incomplete would be an understatement! Luckily for me, though, I’ve just replaced my homemade first-aid kit with something much more thorough (and much cuter, too).  The Boo Boo Bag has officially taken up residence in my diaper bag. Available {Read More}

Holiday Centerpiece with Driscoll’s Berries

The holidays are coming, and in my house the holidays are the one time of year I get all crazy and decide to start crafting, sewing gifts (I can barely sew a straight line), and making homemade presents for everyone I know and love.  I’m a wannabe crafter – I’m really not that crafty, but I wish I was – and my random holiday crafting sprees are clear indications of my lack of crafting skills! But this year is a {Read More}

Eat Smart with Bitsy’s Brainfood

We all know that the way we eat impacts the way we feel, function, and even think.  I imagine this is especially true for children, with their growing bodies and minds, and I’m not the only one who thinks that way. Alexandra Buckley Voris and Maggie Jones Patton, founders of Bitsy’s Brainfood, felt the same way – and they actually did something about it. Realizing a need existed for healthy and delicious snack for children, Alexandra and Maggie created Bitsy’s {Read More}

Health Warrior Chia Bars

A few months ago, my friend Jesika sent me an email asking me if I had ever tried chia seeds.  “They’re so good for you!” she promised. The truth is, I didn’t know that people even ate chia seeds.  All I thought of when heard the word “chia” was the Chia Pet (ch-ch-ch-chia!). But I have seen the light.  I ate my first chia seeds via Health Warrior Chia Bars, and my friends…they were delicious. There are three flavors: Acai {Read More}

National Oatmeal Day (Yum!)

Guess what today is? It’s the day you’ve all been waiting for…National Oatmeal Day! I eat oatmeal  Seriously.  Every day. I heat up my oatmeal in the microwave, pour a packet of Stevia over it, dump in a bunch of fresh Discroll’s berries (if I run out, I have back-up berries in the freezer – no joke), mix it all up and I’m good to go. It only takes a few minutes to make, and it keeps me full {Read More}

itti bitti tutto Cloth Diaper

I change a lot of diapers.  But to be honest, I kind of don’t mind. We use cloth diapers, and for whatever reason, I never complain when it’s time to wash a load of diapers and I don’t mind folding diaper laundry and I even like putting it away (I don’t know how to explain this phenomena though, because I certainly don’t have these feelings of inner peace and joy when washing the rest of the laundry in this house). {Read More}

Peeled Snacks – Delicious Dried Fruit

As a mom who is constantly trying to make healthy food choices for myself and my family, I always appreciate it when I am able to find snacks that are *actually* healthy.  Many products are touted as “health” food these days – but when you actually look at the list of ingredients, it’s unpronounceable chemical after unpronounceable chemical!  NOT HEALTHY. And yet, more often than I care to admit, when I am in a hurry to get out of the {Read More}
