I wanted to impress Tyler for our date tonight, so I invited him over for dinner. I threw on my zombie apron and spent two hours in the kitchen making one of my favorite family dishes: Stuffed Shells.
It’s a lot of work, but he’s kind of cute, so I think it was worth it. My Maytag range did help make it a little easier. I love that my stovetop can bring water to a boil quickly so I could get the shells cooked al dente right away so they’d be ready to stuff. And since my burners heat evenly, it was a snap to brown the Italian sausage, too.
My mom always taught me to make my sauce from near-scratch (canned tomato sauce and tomato paste, fresh herbs & spices) and let it simmer for at least an hour. I like to throw the Italian sausage in, too, so that the sauce really picks up on the flavor. Great sauce is the key to almost every Italian dish I make.
The amount of space in my Maytag range is massive (6.2 cubic feet!), so I wasn’t too worried about running out of room when I decided to bake some summer squash at the last minute. A half loaf of French bread and a full pan of stuffed shells took up only a fraction of the available space.
Tyler thought dinner turned out really great and even had seconds. That made me feel great. He even offered to help with the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen when we were done eating. I thought that was really sweet. Luckily, my Maytag has a special AquaLift Self-Clean technology that makes cleaning the inside of my oven a breeze. It’s kind of funny, actually – in the photo above, it looks like the bottom of my oven is really dirty. That’s actually a sheet pan that I set down there to catch any stray food bits that fall when I bake. The oven floor is perfectly clean and I want to keep it that way. I wish they made sheet pans with AquaLift, though, because I can NOT get mine any cleaner than what you see in the picture.
I should probably ask Maytag if they can work on making self-cleaning pots and pans as their next big thing. They’re on Twitter and Facebook to talk with their customers, so it’s worth a shot, right?
What Meal Do You Cook When You Want To Impress Someone?
I wrote this post participating in an Maytag Moms Dependable Kitchen Ambassador program by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Maytag. I was provided with a Maytag kitchen appliances set, including a refrigerator, dishwasher, and range to facilitate my post.

I make my apple & bacon chicken when I’m trying to impress, it’s heavenly!
I make chicken picatta (lemon white wine chicken) when I want to impress someone. It is not a ard meal, but having all of the parts come out at the same time is a bit tricky. Having the right equipment for the job does make a difference!
cool
this is making me hungry
Not sure what I would make my sweetie if I made him dinner. I sure like your stove tho.
Great job! Food is the way to gain a man’s heart haha! Love the stray tray at the bottom – never thought of that.
Delicious food, will impress any people.
LOVE the pics! Looking at new ovens – this one is sexy! Hope it was a great dinner!
If you had put that much effort into your marriage, imagine the possibilities!
You must be new because she put this much effort and MORE into her marriage. I wonder why you are putting effort here instead of putting it into your own life. Imagine the possibilities if you put more effort into being positive instead of being a negative prick!
the fact that you could even PRETEND to know everything about her situation is comical. marriage is hard, and sometimes it just doesn’t work out after you’ve tried everything you can. it also doesn’t work out if one person doesn’t want it to, but that’s not the point. worry about your own life instead of criticizing, judging, or commenting on others.
I make chicken marsala. I found a recipe that is quick and easy and I get raves whenever I make it. I serve it with broccoli and wild brown rice. Delish !
I wish I had of bought Mytag. I bough Kitchenaid appliances including washer and dryer. They all had something wrong with them with in 2 years! And Yes I had to find a new boyfriend!
Thanks for shareing.
