Since we’re finishing the basement right now, a vacation isn’t exactly in the budget. But that doesn’t mean we can’t bring a little bit of the tropics to us!
Thanks to World Market, I was able to pick up supplies to add a little tropical flare to our backyard barbeques this summer. Since Jason and I collect tiki mugs, that was first on my list. I was able to snag a set of 4 ceramic tiki mugs for $16. That’s a really good price to me, because normally I see them for at least $5-8 each, so I bought two sets so we would have a total of 8 mugs.
Of course, tiki mugs aren’t very useful on their own. I made a pitcher of tropical punch in my new clear acrylic pitcher and filled it with raspberry ice balls for a little extra fruity flavor.
The pitcher was $15, and I love that it’s made out of clear acrylic instead of glass. You can still see the contents, but if Levi bumps it off the table, it’s a lot less likely to break and shatter. The ice balls are my favorite, though. Ever since I had a giant ball of ice in a cocktail in Portland earlier this year, I’ve been trying to figure out a way to make my own. Turns out World Market has me covered there, too.
They sell a 4pk of ice ball molds for $10. I placed a fresh raspberry in each mold before filling them with water, then froze them overnight. Jason was a little surprised when he saw them inside the ice balls at first – he thought something was wrong with the ice, lol. Next time I make them, I think I’ll add a little food coloring for a fun mixing effect as they melt into the drinks.
Two other things made my shopping trip complete. I spent $9 on a set of 3 collapsible food tents. These are definitely a MUST-HAVE for any outdoor barbeque.
They’re basically a collapsible screen tent for your food to keep bugs away. They’re lightweight and big enough to fit my platter of watermelon underneath easily.
I also bought a can holder for beer-can-chicken (not shown) for $5. What kind of barbeque would it be without dinner on the grill?
All said, I was able to stay within my budget of about $75 for our tropical backyard barbeque. Everything I bought can be reused again and again, so I think it was an excellent value.
Speaking of excellent values, right now, when you make a purchase of $20 or more now through at a World Market store, you’ll receive a coupon for 15% off a Southwest Airlines airplane ticket. They’re also running a Summer Getaway Sweepstakes on their Facebook page. Each week through July 13th, World Market is giving away a trip for 4 to anywhere Southwest Airlines flies, including hotel accommodations and a $500 World Market gift card!
What destination would you choose for a family vacation?
